I have just bought a Dragon NaturallySpeaking package, and have had it installed for less than a week. It is already adapting to my voice and writing style. It reads your emails and documents to find out how you write. And you don’t need to be a computer wizard to make it work.
It is absolutely brilliant, I can sit here and talk to my computer and see the print appear in front of me. This software is going to make my life so much easier and save me hours of work. As a two-finger typist, this will allow me to write faster without getting RSI.

Many years have passed since I first attempted to use a voice direct system. I recall the time many years ago, when I first installed one of the early direct systems followed by two other different methods, they all proved to be somewhat cumbersome, and not very useful.
But recently I installed the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred and was quite astonished by the small amount of voice recognition required when it straightaway began following my voice and was immediately able to copy my spoken sentence.
To an elderly person like myself, somewhat more than 90 years of age; today being able to sit back and forget the keyboard with folded arms, to watch the words; when my thoughts are magically being typed on to the screen in front of me, is most rewarding.
The system is the equivalent of a secretary available at any time of day or night, which costs nothing, simply responding to the touch of a key. Paying an equally competent secretary for the same amount of time required many hundreds of dollars in wages.
Installing the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred costs a fraction of the weeks wages were one to employ a competent secretary and it has the ability to recognise my aged not-so-clear voice.
I have fondly named the system JANE. Jane has one disadvantage; she does not make the coffee.
